Artist/designer HOCHI ASIATICO, one of the top costume painters in the industry, has perfected his fabric techniques over the last 23 years. When demand for his service grew, he opened his own studio to supply beautiful fabrics and distressed costumes to Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays.
On Broadway, he has painted costumes for Annie, Matilda, A Free Man of Color, Wonderland, The Adams Family, The Color Purple, Lestat, West Side Story, Disney’s Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Big River. For Disney Theatrical Productions, he has traveled to paint costumes for international companies of Beauty and the Beast in Toronto, London, Mexico, and Germany. Off-Broadway, he has painted costumes for Arsace, Radiant Baby, and several seasons of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Most recently, he made his Off-Broadway debut as a costume designer for La Barberia, adding to his list of design credits for theaters in the Dominican Republic productions that include Beauty and The Beast, Cabaret, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Pargo, The Allowed Sins. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, he has exhibited his fine art work in the United States, Havana, and his native Dominican Republic, including four solo shows – Figuration, The States of The Soul, the Pantheon of the Gods, and The Metamorphoses of the Gods.
